A firefighter who rescued a blind dog that had gone lost in the woods has become a local hero to the dog’s family and all of his neighbors in California’s San Lorenzo Valley. Dan Estrada had gone on a stroll with a friend to the forest behind his house when he was off duty, but he never expected to end up saving a dog.
The man simply wanted to go for a stroll with the goal of spending time with his buddy, so he prepared his bags and headed out with his two dogs, walked to a creek, and received a surprise.

Sage, a 12-year-old Labrador dog who was likewise fully blind and did not move, was found on the creek’s bank. Sage had vanished from her house eight days ago, and her family had looked everywhere for her without success.

Sage’s family claims that one night they planned to sleep normally, but the next morning their beloved puppy was gone. It is unknown how she became lost, but the reality is that her family began to search for her, enlisting the assistance of all her neighbors and relatives.
They also hired a professional dog tracker, hung hundreds of flyers across the area, and shared their images on several social media platforms.

After several days of searching with no success, the worst was feared because to their health and the presence of pumas in the region.
Sage’s mother, Beth Cole, told The:
“Our neighbors and other neighborhood members assisted us with our search for a week, day and night.”
Fortunately, Dan and his other companions were able to locate Sage in time, lying by the water, waiting for help. Sage lifted his head when he heard people close, and Dan saw it; he rushed over and hugged her.

Dan stated:
“I jumped into the water and held her when we realized she was still alive. It was truly a miracle.”
Sage was well known to the guy because he lived near his owners’ home and was frequently playing with their two dogs. Sage was tired and weak after being lost in the woods for a week, so Dan carried her up the hill on his shoulders.

Sage’s family was notified by Dan’s wife, who promptly picked her up and transported her to a veterinarian facility. Despite a series of inspections and a complete medical check-up, the vet declared the dog to be in good health.
His family was relieved since they had been in the dark for several days, not knowing what had happened to Sage; fortunately, he was already safe.

Sage’s homecoming was celebrated by the whole village, including a neighbor who cooked a steak for him and threw him a welcome party. Sage’s family was so appreciative that he gave Dan a prize, but the guy advised that they send it to an animal charity.
The touching rescue tale has spread around the world, and Dan has received thousands of notes from individuals who are affected by what occurred.
