Senior Dog Who Can’t Climb Onto Bed Anymore Sleeps With Dad’s Shirt Instead

Molly has been with her family since she was a young puppy, and she has cherished every minute of it. Her people are her dearest buddies, and she needs to be with them at all times, even while they’re asleep.

Travis Wahl was overjoyed to be re-united with Molly when he moved back into his parents’ home. The two are inseparably connected, and even though Molly is over 14 years old, Wahl still remembers her as the small puppy he acquired when he was 12 years old.

“She’s been with me for almost half my life,” Wahl told The Dodo. “She enjoys seeing me play the guitar.” I sometimes sing her Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana,’ but I adapt the lyrics to match her, such as ‘Her name was Molly.’ She is a good girl… and so on.”

Molly used to sleep in someone’s bed every night when she was younger. She’s now quite large and very old, and getting on and off the beds is much more difficult for her than it used to be. Molly is still adjusting to not being able to sleep in her family’s beds every night, so she now sleeps with one of Wahl’s shirts every night to stay near to him.

Molly will snuggle up with whatever clothing she finds on the floor or anywhere close for the night. She plainly enjoys the fact that she can sleep with something that smells like Wahl, as if she were still lying next to him as she used to. If she can’t locate a shirt, she’ll grab whatever she can get her hands on, whether it’s a towel or a sock…

… whether unclean or clean. She’ll sleep with anything as long as it belongs to Wahl.

“She used to sleep in whichever bed anyone would let her sleep in,” Wahl explained. ” I don’t believe she hates not being able to sleep on my bed as long as she gets to sleep in my room every night.”

Molly may be elderly and unable to accomplish the things she once did, but she still loves her family as much as she did when she was a puppy, and they, of course, love her back.

“She’s like a good wine,” Wahl remarked of her. “As she gets older, she improves. She began as a fine girl and has progressed to become the best girl.”
