The dog attended an important event in the life of the adoptive mother

When bride Kelly O’Connell’s beloved black Labrador Retriever named Charlie Bear, too weak to walk down the aisle on her wedding day, was carried by the bridesmaids so he could be with Kelly for a moment. especially.

For Kelly, it makes sense to the world that Charlie Bear could be a part of her big day. Kelly adopted Charlie when he was a puppy. Charlie is 15 years old and has been battling a ‘brain tumor’ for several months. Kelly and her new husband, James Garvin, are both veterinarians and it was an emotional moment for the couple.

“We both just fell to our knees and started crying,” the bride told ABC News. “When I saw him being carried a few feet away, I felt sure that was not the Charlie he liked to be. He’s aged, and I know he’s lost a lot.”

Kelly’s sister and bridesmaid were leading Charlie down the aisle. But when he became too weak to walk, Katie (only 5’3 ″) picked up the 80-pound dog and carried him to the altar.

The emotional moment was captured by Jen Dziuvenis, Kelly’s friend and photographer. “When your beloved dog was nearing the end of his life, he couldn’t go back down the aisle and your sister picked him up and carried him… THAT’S love,” Dziuvenis wrote on Facebook. “There isn’t enough mascara in the world for these moments. Dog people are the best people.”

The wedding was one of Charlie’s last days with his family. Charlie ‘died’ a few days later.

“He is a very sweet dog. He loves everyone, but I’m definitely his,” Kelly said.

Charlie Bear is gone forever in the arms of his family, let’s pray for him.
