When a stray shepherd mix and her 11 newborn pups arrived at Dallas Animal Services, employees immediately noticed something unusual about this litter.
Every dog is born with facial hair, and some even have pronounced beards, but one rare puppy had something unusual: a handlebar mustache.

Shelter workers cared for the tiny family for two weeks, but with up to 100 homeless animals arriving through their doors each day, they knew the situation couldn’t last.
“Puppies are at a very high risk of being ill in the shelter setting, so we realized we had to get them out,” Allison Seelig of Hearts & Bones Rescue told The Dodo. “We met them last week and were fortunate to locate a great foster in Dallas who took in the entire family!”

Many rescues couldn’t believe their eyes when they met Salvador Dolly, popularly known as “Mustache Puppy.”
“The first question most people ask is, ‘Is that real?’” “There’s a lot of screeching and ‘Omg stop it!’ over her,” Seelig remarked. “Honestly, her siblings are all very cute, so when we met them, we were all oohing and ahhing over the whole group!”

“The puppies aren’t walking much yet, and they spend their days alternating between wrestling and crawling all over each other, napping in a snuggle pile, and eating,” Seelig added. “What a life.”
When the puppies are weaned, the entire family will travel north to New York City. They will be placed in new foster homes while looking for forever families.
