Rescued Labrador Helped Raise 7 Kittens Left Motherless

Rachel, a nurse who lives in the UK with her one-year-old Labrador puppy named Bertie, had no idea what would happen to her rescued dog. The dog understands that all animals in need deserve to have a home since he once needed one and received one, so he helps to care for them.

The woman learnt about seven orphaned two-week-old kittens in need of a temporary home and offered to assist them.

According to the Battersea Animal Shelter, the kittens were discovered abandoned and motherless on the side of a road.

Seeing the kittens plight, the person decided to take them to the shelter so that they might receive the medical treatment they required.

When they arrived at the shelter, local vets confirmed that they were healthy and fed them to satisfy their hunger.

Because the kittens were still extremely small, they needed to locate a foster family that could care for them 24 hours a day. Without hesitation, Nurse Rachel agreed to care for the babies until they were old enough to stay at the shelter.

The woman was thrilled to be able to care for the kittens, but she had no idea that when she returned home, she would be greeted by a special assistant. Her gorgeous dog was enthralled by kittens and decided she would assist in the care of these vulnerable tiny animals in need.

Rachel stated to METRO:

“As a former Battersea resident, it’s very touching to see a rescued pet now working to save other animals in need.”

Bertie’s father instinct was aroused at that point, and he became the guardian of the kittens under his care.

Not only did Bertie keep the kittens safe, but he also kept an eye out for Rachel to make sure they had all they needed. Bertie was at his young adopted children’s sides every time she fed them, overseeing every step and making sure they were okay.

Rachel continued, saying:

“I’m really proud of Bertie for the way he’s taken care of the kittens over the last two weeks. He’s only a toddler at less than two years old, yet you’d never know it based on how patient and caring he’s been.”

The kittens grew healthy and robust owing to Bertie and Rachel’s care, so they were returned to the shelter.

Before long, each of the kittens had found their forever home and had moved in to begin a new life.

Bertie demonstrates without a doubt that rescued animals have a protective instinct and would do everything to aid other animals.
