Dog With Deformed Legs Gets 3D Orthopedic Legs That Allow Him To Run

Derby, a Husky mix dog born with severely malformed front legs, can now walk owing to cutting-edge 3D printing technology. The 3D Systems business in the United States produced special prosthesis for Derby that resemble the legs of a rocking rocker, allowing him to run for the first time in his life.

Derby was adopted by Tara Anderson, a 3D Systems employee, and the rest is history. He was to be sacrificed until he was picked up by Peace and Paws, a non-euthanasia shelter that offered him the chance to life, which was clearly not in vain.

He could barely walk and was constantly scraping and cutting himself.

Because of his malformed legs, he was scheduled to be sacrificed, but a non-euthanasia shelter opted to spare him.

And he was overjoyed when his 3D-printed orthopedic legs came.

It all started with his adoptive mother, Tara Anderson, a 3D Systems employee.

They used CT images of the Derby’s elbows to create personalized prosthesis.

The prosthesis will begin at a modest height and progressively raise as Derby get accustomed to them.
