Puppy Drags Her New Blanket Outside To Share With A Cold Stray Dog

Lana is only a puppy at 8 months old, yet she understands the value of kindness better than others.

Lana currently resides in Brazil, where she and her brothers were rescued from the streets late last year. Soon after, Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé adopted her, and she settled into her joyful new life as a treasured pet. Despite getting all the love and devotion a puppy could want, Lana obviously remembers what it’s like for canines that don’t.

Because the weather has been chilly in their area recently, Schaumloeffel purchased a bigger blanket this week to keep Lana warm and snug in her doghouse out front. She had no idea, however, that after tucking Lana down for the night on Monday evening, the puppy would soon sacrifice some of her own comfort for the sake of a new buddy.

When Schaumloeffel’s fiancé went out the door on Tuesday morning to go to work, he realized Lana had pulled the blanket outside to share it with another dog who apparently lives on the streets.

Schaumloeffel claims she saw the other dog for the first time near their home the day before. She wasn’t sure whether he was a stray; he’d bolted when she approached him to check for an ID tag. Lana, on the other hand, had apparently made his acquaintance and resolved to assist him.

“I thought to myself, ‘How amazing what she done for her friend,’” says Schaumloeffel to The Dodo. “My favorite four-legged companion taught me a vital lesson: generosity!”

Schaumloeffel and her fiancé have seen the dog around on occasion since then, but he always runs away when they approach too close. They’re hoping that if he’s lost, they can assist him in finding his way home. Meanwhile, they’ve been placing food and water out for him.

Lana, after all, would do it if she could.

“She is the sweetest little puppy I’ve ever met,” adds Schaumloeffel. “We sometimes forget how much of a difference we can make in someone’s life. She brought it up again.”
