Woman Gains The Trust Of A Homeless German Shepherd And She Introduces Her To A Friend

A lady wins the trust of a German shepherd dog that had reportedly been living in the woods for some weeks, and she introduces her to another companion who also required assistance.

Judy Obregón, founder of the animal rescue charity The Abandoned Ones (TAO), wanted to save a homeless German shepherd. So, after getting information that the dog was walking around the woods, she went to Echo Lake Park in Fort Worth, Texas.

When she found the dog, she was not overjoyed to be rescued since she appeared to be too afraid to approach someone who wanted to assist her. Her dread of humans was palpable, and every time Judy approached, the dog bolted into the woods.

On Facebook, Judy stated:

“I knew it was critical to apprehend her. Studying their every action was the first step in gaining their trust.”

The woman had to be very patient and wait for many days to acquire the dog’s trust, but she was gradually giving in.

Although the dog, Iris, first ran whenever she spotted Judy’s vehicle, she now waits for food in the mornings.

Judy remarked:

“I’d tell her the same thing every day so she’d recognize my voice and believe that one day her life will change. It’s really fulfilling when we can exchange their dread for a grin.”

Iris would only come out of the woods to assess whether the woman was trustworthy, but one day she decided judy was safe enough to get close enough. Later, Judy was in for a big surprise when Iris headed into the woods as if she wanted to show her something very important.

Iris had been provided food, but she definitely had someone to share it with, and that someone turned out to be a pit bull dog.

Nobody knows how this couple of dogs came up in the wilderness, but it was clear that they had been guarding each other.

Clover, the pit bull, appeared to have had a tough life, since his face was covered in wounds. But, once Iris saw they were in safe care, she nearly insisted that they be rescued together because they deserved a better life.

Judy was ultimately able to rescue the two homeless dogs and took them to a veterinarian for a general examination. They spent some time in the rescue facility once they were approved to get used to human companionship and to receive basic care.

The crew at the rescue facility found that the dogs could be delivered to various adoptive caretakers without jeopardizing their mental well-being.

Both dogs were no longer as close since they had each chosen their own path in the rescue facility, so they were assigned to different foster families.

Furthermore, they had distinct requirements; Iris required more attention and a calm environment, whilst Clover desired a lively foster home.

Most significantly, both dogs flourished in their foster homes, where they were able to meet numerous friends and learn what it’s like to live in a genuine household.

Iris put her faith in her host family and disclosed her genuine self, demonstrating that she enjoys simple pleasures.

Judy stated:

“She enjoys being showered, groomed, and even performing tiny dances… Some would assume that due of the phobia, it would take months for her to recover… This demonstrates that this is not true for all stray dogs.”

Clover has also thrived since his rescue and has formed deep bonds with the animals and children in his foster home.

Emily Walker, a TAO volunteer, told The Dodo:

“Clover represents my particular upbringing. She’s safe for dogs, cats, and kids.”

Clover likes people, but she is also quite close to other dogs; perhaps her connection with Iris in the woods left her with a lasting lesson.

Emily continued, saying:

“She… she absolutely requires another dog in her new home.”

Iris and Clover were both safe at the time, but what they really wanted was to be able to find a family for the rest of their lives. Fortunately, both dogs were able to find their forever homes.
